Strong Work Ethic

People define freedom differently. To me, freedom is the ability to think critically and so I value learning above everything else.

One teacher helped me understand the difference between passively absorbing and disseminating information, and communicating a case supported by research. And it’s made me a better writer.

Everything is an argument and there are lots of ways to argue, but some ways are more ethical than others. I think the best way is to supply plenty of (relevant) factual evidence, employ a fair bit of charm and good humor, and demonstrate an earnest desire to do right by the listener. So, in conjunction with that, my values are fairness, compassion, levity, purposefulness, accountability, and humility. I’m driven to relate to and help others, usually through the abstraction of writing. But hands-on work is also important to me.

Every job I had before I finished college was in the service industry. There I learned how to work hard, stay grounded, and "do unto others." During college I contributed to the university’s satirical paper. After college, I worked as a writer for a small business, a writing intern at the Austin Chronicle, and a product educator for Tesla. Currently, I'm a technical writer for Tesla.

Right now I’m trying to learn more about blogging, web design and applications, and photography. And I’m interested in freelance writing for small businesses and online magazines.
